How To Be A Sports Photographer During Touch Economic Conditions
The ability for a professional image photographer to earn their way through this current economic environment is dependent on numerous factors. Primarily their talent and the way in which that talent is recognized by their peers and general public. Additionally luck has something to do with it too. Being in the right place at the right time and making the critical choices at the right time is critical.
I have met so many photographers who are super gifted in their field but now are unable to get work. A lot of them have attributed this to making the incorrect choices at the wrong time. For instance I’ve got a friend who chose to expand the business too quickly and bought another business to amalgamate into his growing business. But when the economy sank, the business suffered. Potential clients tightened their purse strings and thus the price he paid for the business was far and above what it was worth. He was unable to pay back the company loan and applied for bankruptcy.
While we’re still facing the doubt that’s before us with the European debt crisis causing issues around the world, any professional photographer should be taking defensive actions to protect any existing business. This is the time to consolidate and protect current customers and service them in a way to stop them from leaving. Every customer is worth their weight in gold.
Some ways you could stop clients from leaving is to value add what you currently do for your client. Consider:
- Sending out an email updating clients on what has happened and how they would benefit from your service
- Offering a great discount on a time sensitive deal using a coupon code
- Offering a free consultation to check their current business needs
Make sure you do everything possible to trade out of these tough economic times.
