Patients Are Dissatisfied with Their Dental Care!

As part of my work, I get to talk to a lot of people about dental health and from listening to their stories of pain, suffering, solutions and treatments that do not provide long-term relief is something I find very frustrating! I think that by now, in our modern age, better answers should be provided to us from ‘professionals’ and ’scientists’.

Unfortunately, I am convinced that we have been sold a ‘bill of goods’ in the notion that brushing and flossing are all that you need to maintain your dental health and prevent problems.

My proof that is not true is self-evident. People still get cavities, their teeth still crack or break and they still get gum disease. In relation to the last term, the stats say it all! Most dental professionals agree that up to 75% of people have some form of gum disease right now.

Therefore, you tell me, is it sensible to believe that merely brushing and flossing is enough for the majority of people to maintain their dental health? The reality of today’s state of dental health is very frustrating because the lack of knowledge about what dental disease is and what you can do about it is insidious.

In addition, I challenge you to ponder these simple questions. Dentistry has been with us for a very long time, yet why do so many people still need cavities filled, root canals, crowns, gum grafts, and other ’special treatments’? Do you think that no one has ever come upon good answers to prevent these problems in all the years that ‘modern’ dentistry has been around?

I certainly do not claim to have all of the answers, but I do think that I might have some of them. I was able to avoid one of those popular ‘deep cleaning’ treatments. Even if you have not heard that term from your dentist before or the terms, ‘SRP’ or ‘Scaling and Root Planing’, the chances are pretty good that someone you personally know has!

For an oral irrigator, I  believe that the hydrofloss is the best.

Try a pH balanced, oxygenated mouthwash

I would further challenge anyone reading this article to dig deeper and discover the knowledge, understandings, tools and products that can truly help promote better dental health and save you and your loved ones from unnecessary expense, pain and prevent the need for harsh treatments!

Save Your Remaining Teeth or Protect Them

Tooth loss, among other things, can be quite a devastating or a demoralizing experience. The most common factor or cause of tooth loss would be periodontal disease commonly referred to as ‘gum disease’. This is associated with advanced stages of gum deterioration. When the gums are afflicted with bacteria that secrete toxins onto and around the periodontal tissue. This is literally, the tissue that surrounds the tooth.

Obviously, we have all been cautioned to remain vigilant with our oral health care routines. But with our current realities especially as it relates to food and disease, it may take more than regular flossing and brushing to prevent and cure periodontal disease.

In line with this, there are some measures that one can take in order to prevent or stop the progression of gum disease.  Consider an oxygenated, pH mouthwash such as the Therabreath brand.  Make sure that you also have enough intake of Vitamin C, bioflavonoids, folic acid, calcium and niacin to combat pyorrhoea.

Another possibility is an essential oil blend that can help to kill harmful bacteria.  Oramd is one brand.  However, be forwarned, this can help, but you should also know that the daily disruption of plaque is necessary to help mitigate these problems.  An oral irrigator, like the hydrofloss may be helpful in this regard.

Periodontal disease is a condition wherein the bone structure that supports the teeth starts to erode as a result of the destructive waste products of anaerobic bacteria that accumulate under plaque.  Excessive alcohol and smoking can exacerbates already existing periodontal disease or facilitate the development of the disease. Vitamin B2 or riboflavin might help relieve mouth dryness. Mouth dryness can help the rapid proliferation and growth of bacteria.

What Do Statistics Tell Us?

Many people have some form of gum disease, perhaps as many as 80% of people living on this planet. The mayo clinic states that by age 65 – 95% of people have some form of gum disease.

However, this does not have to be the case. There is nothing wrong with going to get your teeth cleaned every three months. What you do at home is far more important, however.

The reason why is because the plaque that houses the harmful bacteria builds up every day. Therefore, to effectively stop the progression of gum disease, you must disrupt this plaque every day.

The longer the plaque is left intact, the more of the ‘bad’ or anaerobic bacteria will grow. The more they grow – the more toxic waste products they dump onto your teeth and gums.

These waste products can contribute to both cavities and gum disease. If brushing and flossing alone were effective then it stands to reason that up to 80% of the population would NOT have some form of gum disease.

Therefore, it also stands to reason that you need more than just brushing, flossing and using a mouth rinse to prevent the progression of this disease to more serious forms.

The anaerobic bacteria that cause these problems do not like oxygen – therefore use an oxygenated mouthwash. The products of therabreath may be helpful here.

The anaerobic bacteria do like an acidic mouth – as is created by eating acidic foods and not taking steps to adjust your mouth pH afterwards. A pH balanced mouthwash will help with this as will chewing xylitol gum.

There are many additional things you can do to aid your dental health, such as oramd. Your dentist is correct, many much more serious disease have been linked to periodontal disease.

Even ancient civilizations recognized that the health of the mouth reflected the health of the body! Most people want to look at a horse’s teeth before buying him.You can stop the progression of this disease by taking the right actions and by educating yourself about what else you can do besides regular brushing and flossing. At the early stages you can have a very, very good chance of preventing things from progressing to a more advanced stage.

Educate yourself and you can have health gums and teeth for a lifetime!
