Panasonic TC-P42S30 – Complications With The Product, But Great Customer Service
Everything looked good, but I thought he would use the Disney WOW calibration Bluray Disk (which I purchased via Amazon to calibrate my 50″) to check out if there were any dead/malfunctioning pixels, and there were! Was pretty disappointed, but it was absolutely there. I tried using the ‘Pixel Flipper’ to see if I could ‘nudge’ it back in life… no luck. I would also say it wasn’t ‘dead’… but it was surely malfunctioning. The pixel of the Panasonic TC-P42S30 would be excellent for blue colors, but greens/reds/whites . . ., it would show something different.
Legitimately, many people would not notice this and the most would not bother returning it for a replacement. I’m just anal I can imagine… once I know its there, I realize itll bug me.
But hats away to Amazon. The price had increased $30 from what I originally given, but Amazon covered the difference. I had to order a second one and wear it my credit card (because it appeared to be sold by Paul’s TV, not Amazon). The shippers (Pilot) will grab the defective TV when they offer the replacement, and I’ll get the refund in a few days.
These sorts of things are to become expected I think when making great purchases online.
Its a great cost, the picture is also great together with I’m happy (once I get who pixel working! )
EDIT: Forgot to mention my experience with the DLNA/wireless parts of the TC-P42S30. First off, don’t waste money buying the Panasonic brand wireless adapter. There can be 3rd party wireless adapters that are reported for work (granted, I haven’t bought one myself). Merchant want to take the chance, just get hold of wireless bridge: this takes your wifi signal and converts perfectly into a hard-wire connection that plugs into any tv via ethernet cable. MUCH more affordable option.
DLNA Features: For those of you that need to know, DLNA allows you to stream videos/audio etc from your very own Media Server (in my case Windows 7) on your TV. Bottom line, don’t buy any TV now for the DLNA features – they just are not that good. I’ve tried both Samsung as well as Panasonic. Both do connect to our computer and stream videos, but the coffee quality is horrific. Its very downscaled (I’m guessing as the TVs just don’t have the processing capacity to handle all that data). Just do yourself a favor and your investment wireless/DLNA capabilities of the TV and buy yourself and XBOX or PS3. I have both and they are generally MUCH better for these features!
