What Makes Counterstrike Clan Servers So Popular For Gamers
For many years Counterstrike was extremely popular and then came along CSS servers when Half Life 2 was released. Many people stuck with 1.6 but others were converted especially when they upgraded their computer and found the graphics were so much better than the old game.
Counterstrike game servers offer fast paced gameplay, or for the more astute a tactical shoot out. There are different maps to compliment these varying gameplays. With anything from four a side to potentially thirty-two you have to be able to adapt and cope with both types of thinking. The tactically gaming clans normally stick to 5 versus 5. The standard game has two common map types either demolition or hostage rescue maps with the terrorists and counter terrorists playing their relevant role.
Like with the COD4 server The game was made popular for the fact that you could put so many different plug-ins and add-ons to your server to allow you to make things different and unique. For example, you can turn your server into death match or a prison break game. The administration mods and plug-ins make your life easier. For anything but the more complicated functions, RCON is ideal.
The game is as rich for mods as it is custom maps. Some maps are specifically built for certain mods, others work on all gametypes. The original game types – bomb and hostage are still catered for. This isn’t surprising, since these gametypes are still the most popular.
The game has incorporated weapons from around the world and both teams have some subtle differences in the weapons available to each side. Each weapon mimics recoil, range and power of the real world weapons. There has always been an argument about certain weapons within the game and how good they are.
The game has always been easy to run on dedicated servers and many people who wish run multiple servers choose this option out of ease and cost as it is cheaper to rent a dedicated server to run 6 or 7 server than rent them individually. The great thing about running your own dedicated server is you can run the server exactly as you want.
Alongside the text based team and general chat you also have voice in game. The in-game voice can be good for quick communication but lacks any quality. Hardcore gamers generally opt for a dedicated voice server such as Ventrilo or Teamspeak 3. A dedicated voice server offers admin, privacy and control.
