World War Z Will Star Brad Pitt
The literary sub-genre of zombie lit has been exploding, thanks to a modern zombie film renaissance. After some very successful zombie movies, such as 28 Days Later, there were soon zombie themed novels that followed. Some of the most popular were World War Z and Quirk Books’ Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The film version of World War Z has been in the works for a while, and Brad Pitt is confirmed to star.
Let the zombie apocalypse start
The precursor to World War Z was a novel called The Zombie Survival Guide, released in 2003. It’s a practical guide on dealing with the undead. In 2006, World War Z was released as a collection of interviews with zombie apocalypse survivors. Max Brooks is the author of both novels, the son of Mel Brooks and previous SNL writer. The book was optioned for a film in 2007, and it has been in development for awhile.
This could turn out excellent
At this year’s Comic Con in San Diego, Brad Pitt was announced to star in the film, as outlined by MTV. Paramount also has possibilities on some of Max Brooks’ other work. The director of the Bond film Quantum of Solace, Marc Forster, is attached to direct but that might change. The zombie genre could be on the way out, as fewer zombie features appear to be getting made.
You will find more zombies in store
Not only is World War Z due to enter production, there also will be a film of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Natalie Portman will star in the hodgepodge of Jane Austen with ninjas and zombies rampant within the English countryside. The number of zombie films has toned down in lieu of melodramatic and insipid vampires and werewolves, but World War Z appears to be set to be epic.
