Understanding Your Singing Voice.
When using your vocal range for singing you must understand your voice. Each person has their unique voice although some sound quite similar. Things like diction, natural singing range make it sound individual. You can achieve that with proper singing lessons.
People who started singing in their childhood should by now have a good idea of what their voices can do.. The thing that most people don’t realize is that they can really improve everything in their voice including the range..
It is vital to know how your body creates sounds, which parts have the most vital role in amplifying the sound.
Without the air the sound does not exist so it all starts with breathing.. Control of breathing is one of most important things you should perfect in your vocal training.
Since breathing is directly associated with your posture you must learn to relax while standing straight. The throat’s ability to produce sounds is affected when your larynx movements are limited.
Because your vocal cords are basically muscles they they do get tired as well and require proper warm up in order to reach their full potential. Your vocal cords can only work their best when they are relaxed, it is very important..
Two things are necessary and all professional singers do them, it is relaxing the posture and a proper warm up..
Your facial muscles play a vital role as they shape the sound coming out of your throat and through your nose..
Different groups of muscles in your body, face or throat are being used to create different sounds.. The more you are able to relax the ones you don’t need the better the ones you need work.
Your vocal muscles can be trained that’s why you can progress and extend your vocal range when you work on it. Muscle memory takes a few weeks to be developed, the strength as well.. Few weeks is enough to see a big difference in the progress with consistent training, nothing happens overningt.. When you learn to sing the patience is important.
Volume is controled by the diaphragm meaning your ability to use your abdomen for directing the air coming from your lungs.. There is so called head voice and the chest voice.. Chest creates the sound which follows to your head that resonates and directs the sound..
Your vocals work in a different way for various music styles, also there are different vocal dynamics between singing solo and with the band.
With practice and experience yo will be able to stretch your range well out of your comfort zone and hit those high notes without injuring yourself.
Before you throw your money at a vocal coach it is worth to find a good online home study program, it’s a worthy investment.. Spending your money on vocal classes in the beginning is not really necessary.. Only when you need to perfect what you have achieved so far you can go and find a vocal coach for a few singing classes to point you in the right direction and correct eventual weaknesses.
