During the VMAs this year, Bruno Mars performed the 1950’s style cover of the song Valerie tribute to Amy Winehouse. Since Amy Winehouse was by no means able to make it towards the VMAs within the run of her career, but during the VMAs shown on Sunday evening on MTV, a lot of her admirers and friends paid tribute to her memory just a month right after death. Her friend Russell Brand paid tribute by telling a few of the very best things about her with a loving note that bothered him subsequent her death. Next up was the singing tribune from Bruno Mars. He took the stage and wowed everyone along with his outstanding Valerie performance. He was completely in costume for the 1950’s in his greatest sock hop costume along with his hair pomaded up. Behind him was a big bad that played all stops. Towards the beat of the song within the background was a picture tribune displaying images of Winehouse all through her life and her reminiscences. Graphics were also followed with the images to illustrate the big screen. With a side shuffle and a few fancy moves he was able to get the audience singing with him about Amy and missing her. It had been really an event within the year.

Tony Bennett was able to show up to the VMAs to add towards the tribune. He introduced some never before noticed footage from his very own assortment of a music completed by him and Winehouse together. One of today’s bands who are at the forefront of the post-hardcore music scene is Escape the Fate. What is a post-hardcore music or band you might ask? It is actually a music genre that is based on the original hardcore punk and the punk rock music. In 2004, Escape the Fate was formed in Nevada composing of the these original members: Bryan Monte Money as their lead guitarist, Ronnie Radke on lead vocals, on rhythm guitar they had Omar Espinosa, Robert Ortiz in drums, and on base guitar was Max Green.

But just like with other famous bands, they also had their own share of problems. Foremost of which is the replacement and the leaving of some of their band members. However, these changes also did result to some favorable results.

For example, Ronnie Radke was sentenced into prison prompting his departure from the band. He was immediately replaced by Craig Mabbitt.

He was followed by Carson Allen, their one-time keyboardist. Allen left them to join On The Last Day.

Omar Espinosa also left the band in 2007 due to unspecified personal reasons.

To say the least, it is only a normal thing for any band to lose and gain members over a period of time. The only difference is that Escape the Fate experienced these ups and downs during the so far short existence of their band. Add to that fact that some of the band members were going through some drug addiction problems. Something they were able to solve through rehabilitation.

They currently have three albums: This War is Ours, There’s No Sympathy for the Dead, and Dying is Your Latest Fashion.

As the band members themselves claim, In the This War is Ours album, the opening track “We Won’t Back Down” signifies their hard-partying and hard rocking life as a rock band then based in Las Vegas. The album may also show a hint of the influence of the music from their favorite bands, Motley Crue and Guns N Roses.

A couple of years later, the album ‘Dying is Your Latest Fashion’ was released. Personally it was a breakthrough for the band because they were able to come up with that album although they were experiencing some problems of their own. One of which was the departure of their lead vocalist, Ronnie Radke.

Now Escape the Fate continues on its moving forward into the pantheon of the rock music legend. They have stood the test of time, and even the test that they themselves have brought to their band. But they live on and will continue to create great rock music for all.

I cannot begin to tell you how sad it makes me to see all those folks who suffer from drug abuse addictions. I sincerely hope that this site will help inspire people to quit their substance addictions or be of supportive of someone they love to quit – without giving up or abandoning them.

Abuse addictions are costly in terms of money, time, physical damage to the brain and body – not to mention the emotional havoc wreaked upon both those with an addiction as well as their loved ones.

There is a gentleman in his early twenties who apparently used too much of a particular substance. He now talks to himself, and often believes he is talking on a telephone when in fact he is not. People around me tell me that he was very smart before, excelling in his field of study. Poor kid, I feel sorry for him every time I see him talking to himself. He also walks around avoiding contact with others as he lives in his own little world most of the time. Some say he is getting better. I sure hope he does.

I was listening to the radio the other day and there was a study about carbohydrate addiction. Apparently, food addictions can work in a very similar way to drug and alcohol addictions. They elevate dopamine levels. The resulting ‘down’ after the ‘high’ causes the user to seek the addictive substance again. A high carb and fat addiction is one thing, but in the case of heroin this cycle can happen multiple times per day – quickly destroying the physical resources of the addict.

Another person I know told me the horrifying story of his cocaine addiction. I can not begin to tell you how traumatic his story is. He finally beat that addiction, but went through hell to do so!
