There was a time when David Caruso could act. In addition to making a critically well received name for himself on NYPD Blue, he would also put in a very capable turn in films like King of New York. Ok I admit, his range was technically a bit limited to cops, half-Irish cops, military goons, half-Irish military goons, or half-Irish ex-military goons who were now cops, but at least he was playing to some obvious strengths. Can anyone explain what’s happened to him in CSI Miami though? I get that Miami is sunny and therefore wearing a nice pair of sunglasses is more-or-less mandatory, but good grief! Wear them or take them off, David! I counted the glasses going up and down at least fourteen times during one episode, usually coupled with the hand on the hip and some weak one-liner that sounds as if it came out of a Christmas cracker.
This is supposed to be a man that studied Method acting, reportedly utilising it in Hudson Hawk which seems a bit like using a pneumatic drill to crack a nut. At least his character was silent which probably made the rest of the cast’s life a bit easier. I’ll never understand how an experienced actor can forget just about everything they have learned and leans on a pair of aviator sunglasses to encapsulate all they’ve worked on for that character. I suppose it’s a relief it’s just sunglasses, how would the other cast react if he chose something else to play with? Perhaps his underpants. I don’t think much forensic work would get done in Miami and their CSI branch would be actively recruiting for a new head of department.
There are those actors who really know how to wear a pair of shades and look cool. Both Mr White and Mr Orange wearing their ray ban sunglasses in Reservoir Dogs. Arnie in Terminator. Clint in Dirty Harry. None of these characters felt the particular need to keep taking their shades on and off, almost as if the novelty of seeing the world with less glare was an incredible experience that they just simply couldn’t get used to. Glasses maketh the character, David, but they don’t define it.

Excited about the upcoming release of hit US comedy MacGruber, I thought i’d check out what the main character and American military hero MacGruber would be shading his eyes with.
Throughout the film Will Forte (MacGruber) wears several different pairs of awesome Ray Ban 3025 Aviator Sunglasses; my personal preference being the gold-trimmed aviators. Fore is best known for his live performances on Saturday Night Live in the US, and whilst he may not be considered a classic syle icon, he looks great in the Ray Ban aviators.
I much prefer the large aviators sported by Forte than the smaller aviators available this year (see Jessica Biel’s sunglasses in the upcoming A-Team film), and i especially like the leather-side protectors fitted to MacGruber’s aviators. So far i’ve seen the side-protectors in white, silver and brown and i’m guessing they’re either specially made by Ray Ban or an external designer, but either way they’d probably have to be bought seperately.
Will Forte wears quite a few different pairs of aviators during the film and i’m not 100% sure if they’re all Ray Ban sunglasses or not, but there’s definitely a good few pairs of really cool Ray Ban’s in the mix. I reckon these are some of the coolest sunglasses of 2010 and a great bet for the summer months. Admittedly the Ray Ban’s arent the cheapeast sunglasses on the market they’re not too exensive and represent something that’s affordable for the majority of high-street shoppers.
On another note, the film’s pretty good aswell. Forte is genuinely funny as hero MacGruber; the only man in history to recieve 3 Congressional Medals and 16 purple hearts. It has to be said that that his mullet is also rather impressive.

How to keep your sunglasses safe from damage when you don’t wear them? By far the most widely used of accessories, sunglasses cases protect investments and don’t allow the loss of quality. Take your pick from the many models and designs: sleeves, boxes, shells, compact disk covers and all sorts of other inventions meant to serve as sunglasses cases. Good protection of the sunglasses is essential as a way to maintain their features intact. Sunglasses can always work great as long as they are flawless, but if they suffer cracks, scratches and other forms of damage, they will no longer provide good eye protection. Repair options are scarce and you’ll either have to replace the lenses or get a new pair.
Damage to the frames could also impair the efficiency of your sunglasses, because the eyewear will no longer fit on your face. Sunglasses cases are the real way to protect sunglasses, and they are provided by many sellers as gifts or free accessories for the items you purchase. Usually, the more expensive the eyewear, the better the sunglasses cases. Thus, for a cheap pair of glasses you are more likely to get a cloth case. There will be less protection provided, maybe against scratches but for many users it is more than nothing. Plastic sunglasses cases are more efficient and available in different shapes, sizes or designs.
Plastic sunglasses cases are also considered better than metal ones because of their flexibility and bounce back feature in case of an impact. On the other hand the main inconvenience of metal is that cases could remain dented after impact. Do not go for very expensive sunglasses cases unless you are sure that this is what you want. Exclusive eyewear usually requires more special protection, because you take care of an investment, but the average user frequently goes for the simple and basic case models that allow sunglasses to be practical and easy to carry around when not on the face.
Full protection is achieved with hard sunglasses cases such as the ones we’ve mentioned before, either from metal or plastic. Other materials can be fiber glass, vinyl and even leather. Hard sunglasses cases can prove difficult to work with when you need to open them and get the sunglasses out on one edge. Pocket sunglasses cases provide the other alternative but they could prove less efficient in terms of protective range although they are easier to use. Whichever you may choose it is important for the sunglasses to fit well in the case.
